INOVATIV Ambassador Martin Fobes

Tell us a bit about your background and how you got started?

I fell in love with filmmaking through skateboarding. I was always the only skater in my group of friends with a camera, and naturally I started documenting everything.

What are some of your favorite INOVATIV products that you currently own and why?

I absolutely love my Voyager 36 EVO X production cart. It’s the perfect size for my car and it's something I take with me on every shoot. I have a couple of accessories for the cart too. I have a Mast Riser System and Pro Monitor Mount. These turn the workstation into a convenient monitoring hub. I also use the Camera Mount System when I know I'm going to need the extra worksurface space for additional camera prep.

Can you share some specific examples of how INOVATIV gear has helped you overcome challenges or achieve exceptional results?

Before I had my Voyager, I was always working out of a small Pelican case or a backpack. Once you have a designated mobile workstation, it's very hard to go back. Not only does the Voyager give me a stable surface to prep/build cameras, it is also super modular.

How do you customize your INOVATIV setup to meet the unique demands of your work?

I really like building my cart into a video village once I’ve rolled all my gear onto set. It feels like something I can only do with an INOVATIV workstation.

What advice would you give to aspiring professionals?

Whatever you are doing, make sure it's for the pure love of it. If you love what you do, the money will follow.

When you're not working on projects, how do you like to recharge and find inspiration for your next creative endeavor?

Skateboarding has always been a hobby that helps clear my mind and helps me prepare for the next creative project. Inspiration can come from anywhere, a song, a bike ride, skateboarding, a hike, watching the light change during a sunset; Inspiration is all around us.

What are you currently working on?

Chris Ray and I have a new signature product coming out with Polar Pro soon. Super excited about that. Our side jobs are all over the place as of lately. We just got done shooting a project for Quiksilver surf, another project with the band 5 Seconds Of Summer, and we have a side by side camera car shoot next week. We take it all on.
